December: The Fastest Slowest Time of the Year
December: the fastest, slowest time of the year. Holidays are here, kids are sick from flu season, everyone’s rushing to buy gifts, see lights, attend recitals, plays, comedy shows, movies, ugly sweater parties… you name it.
December babies? Your birthday gets lost in the chaos — unless you’re Jesus. Happy Birthday, Lord!
Job hunting? Don’t even think about it until January 7th. Everyone’s recovering from the holidays, saving a little money, and gearing up for the next long weekend. Before you know it, it’s Presidents Day, Spring Break, Cinco de Mayo, the first day of summer, Fourth of July, Labor Day… and then we’re back here again.
December is chaos. It’s slow and painful when you’re standing in line at the grocery store, fast when the weeks vanish in a blur of lights and wrapping paper. But here’s the thing: embrace it. Every moment in line, every dish you prep, every laugh, every hectic, messy second — it’s the only time you actually have. Don’t let stress steal it.
A small, simple Christmas beats an extravagant one any day. The memories, the laughs, the chaos — that’s what sticks. And when the ball drops on New Year’s, you can step back and breathe, knowing you survived the fastest, slowest month of the year… and still have stories to tell.
December: chaotic, hectic, exhausting — but completely worth savoring.
